Some feedback from people who have taken part
Cool –can’t wait to see that DVD (Camera Guys were spot on) Hopefully some good footage, I’ve also inquired on the Garda site about the “bike safe” –should be interesting and no harm to have, “A brilliant event, for a noble cause, incredible amount of organizing and planning, Marshalls do exceptional work in keeping event run smoothly and safe, they deserve loads of credit, thanks to you & all.Bryan O’Brien.” Any provisional dates for next year? Had a great time on the Annual Across Ireland this year, shame about the weather on Sunday but looking forward to next year. My son and myself will be there next year without fail.Darren & David Hull To Nicky and the gang; Thanks for the effort that was put into the run across to galway and back ensuring everyone was as safe as possible. The organisation that was felt in running such an event was second to none. The entertainment on the saturday night was what we have come to expect.Nicky letting us know to watch out for women riders on the way back to Dublin was amusing to say the least(a lady rider close to me was heard to say;"IS HE SAYING I'M SLOW"in a slightly indignant manner).Again thank you for a great ride out and keep up the good work and hope to do it again.... Cassandra Gaffney Dear Annual Across Ireland (Crew) May we take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who put this fantastic event together over the past eight-nine year’s. We have done the Annual Across Ireland event for the past 3 years now and cannot wait until next year (already). To the Garda Traffic Corp, The Marshall’s, Medics and all the ladies helping out, “Well Done”, you should all be very proud of all your hard work. Many Thanks, Suzanne & Dave (Kilkenny) The feel good factor, I get while i ride my 32 y-o bike on the fun run is super. the satisfaction in knowing i'm helping a great cause inMAKE A WISH. cannot be bought.and the best part is that ALL the moneys raised by us in aai, goes to the foundation. as aaai enploys no one , we all do it outta our hearts.and it fill me full of joy to do it.Shiner (Killebegs Co. Donegal) I would just like to say well done to you and your crew for a great biking weekend had by myself and my fiends on the 30th & 31st Aug. The whole event from start to finish (although we had to divert the ending) was a pleasure to be part of. I hope a great amount of money is raised for the Make-A-Wish Foundation (I’m sure they are very happy) as it is a good cause. To be part of 800-1,000 bikes travelling in convoy across the country under an escort, was such a buzz and well organised.Hope to see you guys again next year (and the presentation run) Simon Byrne (Cork) Hi Lads/Lassies Just want to say what a great weekend we had a big thank you to all concerned in organising a fantastic event for a fantasic charity. From the time we arrived in Dawson Street till we got down to Galway it was brilliant, a big well done to the Marshalls & Crew who done a great job.Regards Catherine Byrne and Ivor Hemingway. (Dublin) Dear Nicky & Team, Thank you so much for organising this brilliant event. I'm fairly new to biking and was very excited about doing this weekend trip. It excelled my expectations. It was thrilling to have biked across the country with such a large number of like-minded individuals. Your team of marshals & the Gardai did a wonderful job of keeping the whole cavalcade moving - no mean feat with over 850 bikes! I look forward to joining you again next year on the run. You all did a fantastic job.Take care, Trish, Dublin Nicky Thanks for an excellent event. It was a very well organised and managed event. Well done to all the marshals , paramedics , Gardai and support staff. Looking forward to next year. Regards Sean Collard (Co Meath) Hi Nicky, Just a quick email to say thanks to yourself, Shirley and all the crew for a fantastic weekend on the annual across Ireland fun run. We admit we are addicted and are already looking forward to next year! We think you should be extremely proud of what you have organised over the past nine years (and hopefully plenty more to come!). We can only imagine the work that goes into making it as successful as it is. Thanks. Bernard and Linda Murray.(Co Dublin) Daryl D'Art Jnr “I've done numerous European bike trips including Sicily and Greece but nothing could quite prepare me for the excitement and exhilaration of the Annual Across Ireland motorcycle fun run to Galway. Arriving at the departure point in Dublin's Dawson street was a surreal experience with hundreds of parked up bikes taking up the length of the road. The atmosphere among participants was friendly and jovial. We left Dawson Street with the roar of revving engines and the din of a multitude of beeping horns. The cavalcade was escorted along the way by police motorcyclists and marshals who did a great job of keeping everybody moving. We stopped at the mid-way point of a garage off the main Athlone by-pass for fuel, snacks and...” (Click here for complete review)Daryl D'Art Jnr Susan O’Dwyer - Speaking on behalf of Make-A-Wish® Ireland “Make-A-Wish Ireland would like to thank Nicky Carvin and his whole team for organising such a magnificent event . The amount of work that goes into an event like this is phenomenal, even more so when you consider that it is all voluntary. Every single cent raised goes to Make-A-Wish, everything is sponsored. What is amazing is that the bikers not only raise money, give of their time but they also pay for all accommodation and meals out of their own pocket. The generosity of all concerned is very much appreciated. We would like to thank the sponsors, AXA Insurance, AON Bike Care, Bridgestone Ireland, Eddie Rockets, Greenclean, Thunder Road Café, East Coast Commercials and O’Kelly Mobility all of whom have given such wonderful support. We were delighted when we were chosen for 2008 and we are thoroughly looking forward to working with the team for this year’s event. ”Susan O'Dwyer Development & Fundraising Manager Make-A-Wish® Ireland Joe Sheridan - Co Cavan “ Can I take this opportunity to congratulate and thank you all, for organising such a worthwhile and big project. It has been Such a long time since i have enjoyed a run so much and it was great to see such a success. You are to be commended for your work and commitment!! ”Joe Sheridan Co Cavan Paul Fitzgerald - Co Dublin “Hi Guys, I had a great time on the run and hope to do it again next year. I thought the event was well run and very worth while. Well done to you and your team. ”Paul Fitzgerald Co Dublin 2006 Tim O'Dea - Corporate Development Manager - Barretstown: “ Now that the dust has settled (quite literally) after the run, I wanted to send you a brief note on behalf of all of us here to express our gratitude to you and the rest of the organising committee for having Barretstown as your chosen charity for this year’s run. The run itself was hugely impressive and the smooth running is a testament to the attention to detail and planning that went in to it. On a personal level, I enjoyed the weekend and the Barretstown volunteers with me also had a great time.”“The two buses the run purchased for us from last years event have been a great boost to the camp this summer and have been well used and appreciated. They have quickly become an essential part of our programme. Whatever can be provided this year will be equally appreciated. Again, we thank you not only for the money raised but also for the huge awareness the event raises – it’s not every day you have 500 bikes going across the country."Tim O'Dea Corporate Development Manager Barretstown Andrew O'Connor: Just wanted to say JOB WELL DONE on the Barrettstown Fun Run.
